Computer Recycling for Cash!

The sky is the limit when it comes to earning Cash for Electronic Scrap in the USA. Every year in the USA, users of computers dispose of their older, out-of-date computer equipment in favor of purchasing newer, higher performance equipment. Will this cycle ever end? Certainly, not anytime soon.

A lot of people, many working from home, are making sizable incomes from the sale of electronic scrap or e-scrap as it is often called. These "green entrepreneurs" travel nearby neighborhoods in search of used, obsolete computers and computer equipment to add to their inventory of precious scrap electronics.

Preparing Computer Electronic Scrap for Sale

A computer is for the most part a box with some wire, integrated circuits, circuit boards, processors, and drives. Here are 12 simple steps to take apart most computers:

1) Shut down the computer, then, unplug it from the electrical outlet.

2) Ground yourself electrically using a wrist strap or other equivalent method.

3) Open the case.

4) Remove the integrated circuit boards from the motherboard (main board).

5) Remove the RAM memory boards (memory sticks) from the slots in the motherboard.

6) Disconnect the power harness (cable) connectors as well as any other wiring connectors from the hard drive(s), CD drive(s), DVD drive(s), and any other devices.

7) Remove each component (CD drive, etc.) one-by-one taking out the screws fastening each component to the computer chassis and carefully extracting each component from the chassis. Set these components aside. They might require further dismantling.

8) Remove the heat sync from the central processor (CPU) except of course it is part of the central processing unit itself (Note: heat syncs might be made of aluminum or other recyclable metals).

9) Disconnect the power supply wire harness from the motherboard.

10) Remove the power supply. CAUTION: DO NOT DISASSEMBLE THE POWER SUPPLY.

11) Disconnect the power wiring cables connecting the main board and case fans and other devices.

12) Unscrew the main board from the chassis and remove it.

Congratulations! Your computer is completely dismantled.
